A three mile stretch of barrier island is a playground of sand, surf, and sun along Delaware's Atlantic coast. This is a place of exploration and fun in the sun. The most peaceful ocean and bay shoreline in Delaware, offers much more than just a scenic view.

Fenwick Island State Park, a 334 acre state park, was established in 1966, and renamed in 1981. Named after Thomas Fenwick whom was granted rights to the land by Lord Baltimore. The island has remained largely undeveloped due to its narrow peninsula that is just 3 miles wide. In WWII era, the observation tower was created and the island was used as a part of Delaware's costal defense system. It borders the Atlantic Ocean and Little Assawoman Bay, creating a beautiful scenic experience of two different costal lines on one patch of land.
