Fort Warren, Boston Harbor Islands, is a historic fort off Georges Island in Boston Harbor. Constructed and defended through the end of WWII, and served as a prison during the American Civil War. This fort, now a tourist site, preserved as a National Historic Landmark, is made of stone and granite, and shaped as that of a pentagon, so to protect from all sides. This masterpiece of costal engineering, was named after the Revolutionary war hero Dr. Joseph Warren, who sent Paul Revere on his most famous ride.
